Back to Fontana

7/30/2003

I made my delivery appointment in WA and now I'm back in Fontana. This running up and down I-5 is getting real old! The one saving grace about going through Oregon is I get to stop at McCredie Springs, just off route 58. Natural Hot Springs and some beautiful scenery. I try and stop most times I go by.

Illness

7/26/2003

Oh, I'm so sick.

I've been in the Lost Hills Pilot all night and most of the day now. I think I picked up some sort of stomach sickness. I'm going to have to start main-lining Pepto-Bismo here soon if I'm going to be able to drive in a couple of hours.

I have to be in Washington in two days.

Utah to Cali

Interstate 80.
Greetings from Central Utah!

I unloaded my pallets of soup in Salt Lake, ran up by the Idaho border for a load of plastic parts, and am headed back to sunny LA again.

Tonight I'm staying at my mom's place. It's on the way.

Sac to Reno

Wow, what a strange trip. I dropped my load in Sacramento and then bob-tailed to Reno to pick up an empty trailer and take it down to Stockton to the rail yard.

And then pick up a trailer there and bring it up to Campbell's soup in Sacramento for a load going to Salt Lake City.

Boy, going over Donner Pass is a breeze when you're empty!

NorCal Again

7/18/2003

Back in Fontana between trips to Northern California. Just came back from Oakland and now I'm headed for Sacramento again.

Sierra Vista

7/11/2003

Greetings from Sierra Vista, AZ!

I'm sitting in the Sears parking lot waiting while they unload me.

Sierra Vista is located at the gates of Ft Huachuca, the Army's Signal Corps headquarters. Ran from San Diego up to Fontana and then around town for a bit and then up to Delano and the Sears warehouse. Then a quick trip back to Arizona.

Back to SoCal

7/8/2003

It's nice in San Diego this time of year. Actually, it's nice here almost all the time. But, it's a lonnng way from Bellingham, WA.

I hauled some stuff back to Sacramento area and then loaded up with old tires.

Long drive hauling tires down here for recycling.

Fourth of July

7/4/2003

Happy 4th of July!

Here I sit in a motel room in Tigard, OR while maintenance flushes my A/C system and repairs the compressor. They're having a fireworks party and BBQ out in the parking lot, and I can't sleep. Oh well.

Way Up North

7/3/2003

Greetings from Canada! Well, almost. I'm at a Toys R Us in Bellingham, WA today.

Beautiful country up here! Headed south again today.

But, my A/C Compressor gave up the ghost back down in Weed, CA yesterday. Luckily it's not hot up here, but I'm going to stop at the Portland OC and see if I can get it fixed fast. California in July heat is not what I want to do.

RB to CA

7/1/2003

Reckitt Benckiser express to Orange County, CA. Happy July 1st!

LIFE AS A WESTERN REGION DRIVER

ALRIGHT! I've passed my tests and I'm qualified to drive this beast. Now, let's get the heck on down the road. I'M A TRUE PUMPKINHEAD NOW.

I find that I do my best thinking while the wheels are rolling the miles away. Unfortunately most of that deep thinking doesn't stick around when I'm done driving. I find that more urgent things take my attention and the earth-saving ideas I had quietly slip into the haze of half-remembered feelings and emotions. I should get a voice recorder or something. I'll have to remember to do that.
